I worry, y'know?
In 2010, when I was asked to share my testimony (and consequently the EVP which caused me to rethink my spiritual condition in 2007) on The 700 Club, I was concerned people would focus too much on the recording. I don't share the "demon scream" EVP to "prove" anything. It was simply a part of my experience.
The point is and always will be God's mercy and grace.
And the last thing I want to do by sharing my story is encourage people to record EVP's of their own, seeking "evidence" of spirit beings of any kind (demon, angel, or human).
The reason is simple.
Those whispered vocalizations, captured in the white noise of an audio recording, are simply another part of the ruse of deceptive spirit beings bent on drawing people away from God. Focusing people's hearts and minds on the spiritual realm in a way which God (according to scripture) does not intend for us.
I'll admit, my situation was kind of unique.
But generally speaking, EVP's do nothing more than encourage people toward seeking out more communication with ghosts or evidence of a haunting. Why God chose to use an EVP (captured during a ghost hunt in which I was participating as a psychic medium) as the catalyst to repentance is a mystery to me. Personally, I think it was the only thing left which could truly capture my attention.
More importantly, I don't believe anyone should be searching out a similar experience–for any reason.

Excellent comment. The One True God is more than enough to satisfy every spiritual yearning we have. Seeking after other information and / or experiences as a way of "investigating the spiritual world" is like eating plastic fruit for Thanksgiving dinner.
Thanks Tim! I especially like your analogy of "eating plastic fruit for Thanksgiving dinner". So true.
i don't know what to think about this. I had an odd experience the other day with an EVP. I was doing my walk at a local cemmetary, for exercise, and decided to try to get an evp with my cell phone recorder…i held it out and asked if anyone was there two times…and although it was windy, you can very vividly hear a voice whisper "Jesus came", i'm 99 percent sure that's what it's saying and so are the others i've let listen to it. In opinion, is this something evil or a good spirit spreading the word of Jesus???

Hi Jan. I do not believe this is a "good" spirit "spreading the word of Jesus". The Bible tell us demons know exactly who Jesus was/is. They had/have no choice but to acknowledge Him. See Matthew 8:28-32, Acts 16:16-18, Luke 4:33-35, Luke 4:41. Also, simply saying "Jesus came" does nothing but confirm what history has proven. The "good news" is that Jesus LIVES.
I have a feeling you may be right Kristine because even though I've been interested in evps, I have most recently began to realize that it's most likely something to stay away from. Just seems as though it's an avenue for mostly evil spirits to get through. The thing that confuses me though is…. I find it odd that a spirit would choose to reconfirm that Jesus exists? It almost seems like an evil spirit would want to do the total opposite you know?

I don't find it odd at all.
All these types of phenomena do is encourage someone to continue seeking out this form of communication (something we are told not to do in the Bible-seeking communication with spirits). Remember what it says in 2 Corinthians 11:14 "But I am not surprised! Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light." Additionally, when we get the inkling that something we are doing is "wrong" this is an indication that the Holy Spirit is "nudging" us.
I should add that there's a litle bit more to the story I probably should of mentioned. I've been going through a health issue for a while now, and while I was in the cemetery doing my walk, (it's a cemetery but people bike ride etc there), I was feeling so bleak about my situation…and since nobody was around to over hear and think I was a nut talking to myself, I spoke out loud while I was walking asking Jesus to heal me. Then about 2 minutes later, because of my interest in EVP's, I had the idea to use my cell phone recorder and try to see if I can catch an EVP, that's when I got it. Very creepy, but then the more I listened to it on the recorder I started to hope that it was a sign of goodness. Not sure why a spirit if it was bad would reconfirm that Jesus exists. Weird. All I know is I think I will stop experimenting with EVP's. Just seems wrong or something the more I think about it.

I'm glad to hear you will stop experimenting with the paranormal. I pray God heals you. God does comfort and guide us through prayer, scripture, the encouragement of brothers and sisters in Christ. Hold fast to Him and the hope of the gospel. Peace and blessings.
Thank you for your kind words, I truely appreciate it. And yes, I am going to stop with the EVP's…initially I had thought it was something innocent, a way of hearing a deceased family member. But, I now realize it's most likely something "bad" that's coming through on the recorder. I do not want to be a part of something like that. From what you said, I do think it was something evil, pretending to be good by mentioning Jesus. A way to lure an unsuspecting person in. Best wishes to you.
