"Furious with God after his wife's death, David is avoiding church, struggling to pay the bills and avoid foreclosure, and working himself into an early grave. Meanwhile his son, Steven, watches, prays---and worries. Can anyone help his dad answer the question "Why?"---before grief destroys what's left of their family?"
I have to confess that when it comes to Christian movies I tend to be a rather hard critic. Thankfully in recent years the genre has started to award movie going Christians with better films and I have to say it's a trend I'm very happy to see.
Standing Firm, a new film recently released by Praise Pictures is one of those new movies which has definitely stepped up and raised the bar of expectation for Christian film writers, producers, actors, and directors.
A good story performed by a strong cast, Standing Firm provides a realistic picture of what life as a Christian is like, not shying away from the hard fact that some times things happen we don't understand but that even our of difficult or sorrow filled circumstances God provides hope and healing for those who seek Him. The movie presents a strong gospel message makes this movie a must have for any church desiring to reach out and share the love of Christ, especially with those who are grieving the loss of a loved one.
Admittedly the topic is a heavy one and there are times where the pace gets a little bogged down by the weight of the story but the overall performances of the actors and high quality of the production honestly make it worth the wait for the story to move forward.
I'm happy to have Standing Firm in my Christian film collection and am looking forward to the next project from Praise Pictures (whatever it may be) because they are setting a new standard for Christian films and it's a good one! I highly recommend this film for you, your family, your church...or anyone who needs to hear the good news of Jesus Christ and the hope we have in Him.
