My Final Post: The Bible Journaling Kit

My Final Post: The Bible Journaling Kit

Can you believe it is December 1st? I cannot. Goodness. The Christmas season is upon us.

And as the title suggests this is to be my last post. Thom and I have been discussing what we should do about the blog for months. The truth is that my blogging journey ended in 2015---it's just taken me this long to admit that this part of my life has come to a close. It's been such a blessing to serve God through the articles I've shared here over the years but in 2015 the passion and joy I once found in writing blog posts and articles became more of a chore.

Thank you to everyone who has bothered to stop by over the years. I'm glad to have been part of your life even just a tiny bit through the sharing of written words.

Now, I have been wondering for a while how to go about writing my final post for this blog. When the opportunity to review the Bible Journaling Kit presented itself, well, I knew I had my answer. Over the years I've had the pleasure of reviewing movies, worship albums, books, and bibles. What better way to say farewell than giving one last review (and maybe helping someone with a Christmas gift suggestion). So without further ado, and with my deepest gratitude for sticking with me over the years, my final post.

Journaling Bibles and adult coloring books have become very popular. So, is it any surprise someone would come out with a nifty kit, in this case The Bible Journaling Kit, to make it easy to enjoy the creativity one can find through these outlets? And I have to say the Bible Journaling Kit is filled with lots of fun stuff. Here is what you can find in the kit:

About the Product

Create a work of art on the pages of your favorite Bible. Draw, color, or journal your thoughts, dreams, and prayers. Highlight your favorite verses or the encouragements that speak to your heart with pencils, stickers, and tabs. Kit includes:

·         4 sheets of word stickers

·         4 sheets of alphabet stickers

·         24 tab stickers

·         8 colored pencil twists

·         1 journaling pen

·         1 pouch with adjustable strap to fit Bibles of all sizes

·         1 ruled page protector mat with tracing lines

As you can see, the kit is filled with a lot of great things. Here are my thoughts as I've used it a bit in my Inspire Bible

  • While I understand the inclusion of the stickers those are really not my thing. I'm more likely to use something like that in a photo album, you know? But I can see them being used in a prayer journal perhaps? I'm sure more creative people than I could find a good use for them. The tabs are a nice touch if you want to have a reminder of where to find a specific verse but once they are on that's it. So apply with care.
  • The journaling pen is very nice with a fine tip. I like it for underlining verses and writing in the margins (although it does bleed through the pages but I've yet to find a bible where that isn't an issue).
  • The colored pencil twists have vibrant colors, which I do like, but they feel a bit fragile to me. While using the twists I kept worrying I'd break the darn things (I tend to use a heavy grip, press down a little too hard. I know. It's a thing.) so it kind of took away from the enjoyment. I'm more inclined to use a traditional set of pens or colored pencils.
  • The pouch is very nice to organize things. And YES, everything that comes in the kit does fit within it so that's pretty cool.

I like this kit. There are some things which are not really for me in it but I would not hesitate to give one of these kits as a gift to a person who enjoys creative journaling, using an adult coloring book, has a prayer journal or journaling bible. I think it makes an excellent Christmas gift and you get a lot in the kit. All in all, not bad for $20.
